Travel Tuesday: Admission Passes
Whenever it comes time to travel to a new city, be it for a get-away vacation, to visit a family member, or to check out a college for the kids, you always get the feeling that you should be seeing every last attraction while you’re there. You can’t possibly go to New York and not visit the Museum of Modern Art, right? And when it comes time to go to San Diego with your grandchildren, well, you’re going to have to take them to the zoo. For most of the major cities that you’ll travel to in the States there is a lot to do, but the problem is it costs money. That’s always the problem with the attractive attractions. So what happens? Either you go to only one, because it’s so expensive that you can’t go to two, or you go to the cheap or free ones, and leave feeling somewhat dissatisfied, or you do no sightseeing and simply spend your time at the mall, in which case you could just have stayed home.
Now there’s an option for the budget conscious traveler who wants to see it all but would rather not pay for it all. It’s called the Go City Card and it’s from a company called Smart Destinations. What these geniuses have done is teamed up with all the local attractions in big cities all over the country to save you money on your admission fees. Cities include Boston, Chicago, New York, LA, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Seattle, and more. Attractions include all the zoos, parks, museums and other fun things that you’d want to see but you might not even think of when heading there. So what does the Go City Card include? It includes admission to a whole host of different attractions in each city. For instance, if you’re visiting San Diego, you’d just head over to Smart Destinations, check out the Go San Diego Card, and decide how many days you want it for, pay the one-time fee, and then proceed to go nuts at every major tourist (and local!) attraction there is, not worrying about having to shell out some cash every single time you go through another door.
For the less exuberant traveler Smart Destinations also offers the Explorer Pass, where you can enjoy long coffee breaks, visit the occasional boutique, but also get a great deal on what you want to see, because you pay one low price and then get entry to your choice of between one and ten attractions, depending on the city and the card. A hidden gem is the Wine Country Explorer Pass. For two days you pay only $49 to gain access to eleven tastings and two museums, an absolute steal if you ask any wannabe wine buff, and can save up to $70.
Before you plan your next big city trip, why not look into getting a Go City Card or an Explorer Pass, to enjoy your adventure while getting good value too. Coupon-Gurus has some pretty good ways for you to save too, so don’t forget to check out the latest coupons for the Go Card before you go.
