The Shape of Seating Has Changed

Holgan LoveSacIf you’ve ever sat on an antique sofa or settee, you know they weren’t made for loafing. Long before the days of television and video games, sofas were made for merely sitting while one conversed. Hours were not intended to be whittled away on them. They simply are not comfortable for long-term seating.

As the habits and pastimes of the people progressed (or regressed, depending on how you look at it!), sofas required more upholstery; bigger, softer seats that enable one to sit on it for longer periods of time. Sectionals came about to enable larger groups to sit together at once and enjoy each other’s company in comfort. This new form of seating arrangement was also directed at larger families who liked to gather together and enjoy their favorite TV shows, etc.  This trend

Colon Care for the Concerned Citizen

A big, greasy plate of French fries and a bacon cheeseburger. A 5:00 deadline you are stressing out over, because it is one you know you are not going to make. Those Ambien you have been popping every night to overcome your insomnia. Your sedentary, behind-the-desk lifestyle five days a week. What, do you think, all of these things have in common?

All of these above-mentioned things can cause your colon to cease functioning properly. Your colon ceases to be able to eliminate waste from the body as it should, and harmful toxins accumulate.

Just like the dust on our furniture or the soap scum in the shower, the accumulation of toxins is somewhat inevitable, although a healthy lifestyle with exercise and proper eating will do much to curtail it. But most of us do indulge in greasy

Sweep Out the Bugs for Summer!

Ok, I admit, it is more like summer now, and spring has past. But this year has been flying by, and so maybe you are like me, and it still FEELS like spring to you too. And unfortunately, my house and my life still are living in eternal spring; in desperate need of a deep cleaning. So, this weekend I started cleaning out my closet, and made a trip to Goodwill. I swept, vacuumed, and dusted the whole house. Then I sat down to my Mac, and realized that more than any other item in my house, this really needed to be cleaned out most of all. People tend to neglect thinking of “cleaning” their computer, and this can lead to many problems down the line. Just like any other item in your home, your computer needs to be cleaned periodically to get out all the “cobwebs”, so to speak.

Tress Salvation for the Follicle-Challenged

They say your hair is your crowning glory. In my case, it is my crowing mediocrity. In order to compensate, I’ve had it every color under the sun; rust to champagne to Elvira black. I’ve had it pixie short, and bum- length. In the 80’s, I rocked bad perms for a little body. And sometimes I would wear it up sometimes, but mostly down. I did that early 90’s bang poof/swoop. In high school when the look was all long and no bangs, I was the first girl to just chop all of it off into a bob. It was easy cutting my long, shiny but limp anorexic tresses because it’s not the same as cutting off a real thick mane of hair. I didn’t have too much to lose! Currently, I’m maintaining an asymmetrical bob in strawberry blond. Gotta keep creative, you know?

As you can imagine, all of

No Bows Required!

Men are supposed to be tough; stoic. Never will they let you see them shed a sentimental tear at a sad movie, or get sappy over a holiday toast. They also feel the compelling need to fix everything, think tools are romantic gifts, and refuse to ask for directions, even when completely lost. Ah….men; a strange and wonderful species unique in the wild!

Yet something happens to this able-bodied and robust gender when they finally have children; they suddenly become tender and ease up. In fact, most fathers have quite a huge soft spot specifically for their children. Men may be “big and strong”, but Dads are soft and fluffy…just don’t tell them we know it. And now that Father’s Day is rolling around, you want to give him something that tells him how much you appreciate the
